READY TO BUILD
My name is Jeremy Martz, aka GrizzlyJer, and I’m a programmer passionate about working and developing in the video game industry. From Ontario, Canada, I’ve been a Quality Assurance Technician for over four years, testing games and learning the industry from the inside. Since then, I’ve been coding and improving my skills to create and develop games over the last three years.
My education background is a Bachelors of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and a Diploma from the Toronto Film School in Video Game Design & Development. It took me a little while to figure out what direction I wanted my career to head! But there is no doubt any longer, I’ve found my niche.
Game development requires the incredible technical expertise that is deep and rich to learn, while providing an artistic outlet at the same time. A lot of my projects have been focused on learning key objectives, that range from learning how to make technical art, to how to implement fundamental coding practices, or just to see the advantages of making a project one way in engine, versus another method.
I’m all about getting into the details. I find back-end coding & development very satisfying, to build an architecture that is expandable and ready to be modified from foreseeable design changes. I like being able to have an idea about an existing old project, open it up, and implement the new feature just to see how it feels, or looks.
That doesn’t exclude me from being able to make projects in a short-time frame: I’ve participated in many game jams, such as Ludum Dare and in-house game jams at the Toronto Film School.
